Food review; Superstar K BBQ Restaurant

Honestly, it's been awhile since i had bbq food. The last time i had was during this year's CNY. I'm not really a foodie person however i am definitely a sucker when it comes to exploring new foodie places! I've been hearing from this friend of mine, this particular BBQ restaurant is so nice that she's always going back there for more, till the staffs there all know her. This pretty much tells me how good is that place.

Superstar K BBQ Restaurant, located at Tanjong Pagar. It's not very difficult to locate this place & pretty much accessible, be it public transport or own's. Reached there at a pretty late timing around 1030pm, was wondering how fast do we have to eat in order not to get chased out by them! Little did i realize that they actually close as late as 3am! I must say, this will be a very good place for those who end work late & want to chill out with friends or colleagues & need not worry that they do not have ample time to catch up.

The restaurant's deco's are pretty simple, round tables & stools. It's a very uncomfy seat i'd say however it prolly makes you wanna leave right after you're done with food. Fret not about the smell of bbq because they have this!
You may think this might not help alot, however when i walked out from the restaurant the smell of the bbq isn't very strong! So it's one of the best thing they have in there!

Look at the utensils they have there, it's mainly metallic. My friend jokingly said that she felt like a prisoner. LOL! Those small bowls there are the free side dishes they give us, like potato, spinach, kimchi & this yummy steamed egg!
I give 10 thumbs up for this! Hahaha! It is so yummy that i cannot stop eating it! Yes, this is given free to each table(according to my friend). How nice! :D

They also have very good customer service, like they would actually help us to cook & serve the meat to us. Although most of them are korean, however they can still understand simple english, very patient & always smiling! :)
So how it works is that, you'd need to order two types of meat. They will serve it to you according to the number of pax at the table & so you need not worry about the portion of food, just decide which meat you prefer.

We ordered beef set. And this is how it looks like for 2 pax. Looks little right? In fact when you cooked it, it's really ALOT!
Looks yummy eh?? Yes it is! The beef is very tender & fresh! You can also inform the server who's serving you how done you want your meat to be. They are very experienced, so you can just sit and relax, drink your soju while waiting for your food to be served to you. :)

And you thought you're just eating the meat itself or with plain rice? Yes you can choose to go with plain rice, however i choose to eat it in a wrap! Yea wrap! Wrapped with lettuce!

You can have fun DIY-ing your each wrap, with chilli, onion, some seasoning salt & garlic! It's really awesome! This is my first time eating in such a manner & i absolutely love it! And i was thought by my friend that before i eat the wrap, i should down a shot of SOJU! Hahahah! Being curious, i really did that & it felt heavenly! :D

We ordered 2 different types of SOJU, the weaker one & stronger one respectively.

I don't know how but yes both of us managed to finish these 2 within an hour! You should drink it in shots form & not sip by sip! The kick comes slightly later, not that fast! Oh remember to drink it before eating the meat, hahah! However for people who doesn't really know how to drink, i wouldn't advise you to drink it in shots form because i don't wanna get you drunk by the bbq table! Drink moderately. :)

Because my friend loves their kimchi soup & me being a curious kid, we decided to order kimchi soup & their vegetable pancake! (Even knowing we're too full to eat any further!)

Look at the kimchi soup! It's still pipping hot when served to us! However it's too spicy for my liking, i almost choked on it! =.= Hahahaha! Don't doubt me, i'm a true blue Singaporean! :D This vegetable pancake is a pretty big serving considering there were only 2 of us. It's pretty thin and it isn't that tough to chew too. With every bite, you could taste the vegetables stuffed inside, literally a vegetable pancake. :)

This whole meal cost us about $130 for 2 pax. I wouldn't say it's too expensive considering the fact we had drinks & some side orders besides the meat itself. I love the ambience, where you can really talk loudly with friends over food & drinks after work. Worth going back again!

  1. I’m glad you had a great experience with that resto! And yes, the meat looks mouthwatering, even when it was raw. It probably looked even more tempting when it was already cooked. Do you have photos of it? I also like that you included veggies in your meal. Eating veggies with meat usually gets rid of the guilty feeling I have whenever I eat “unhealthy” food.

    1. Hi Javier, thanks for reading! Indeed, this restaurant is now within my favourites. I go back very often! Yea i do have photos of the meat already cooked. And eating the meat together with the vege is indeed very different compared to having it with rice. If you have the chance, do visit the restaurant. I am sure you will love it! :)
